Vegetarian Diets



Vegetarian Diets have many different permutations.  For some "vegetarian" means generally plant foods and would be construed as almost a Vegan diet.  Less stringent diets would eliminate only red and white meat from their diet.  Thus diary and fish would still be allowed on these type of diets.  

We don't believe that any form of a Vegetarian diet complies with following the Hallelujah Diet.

For many people, vegetarianism will be a transition diet on the road to plant based.  Others simple adopt it and never really become true plant based eaters.

Health studies on vegetarians (Seventh Day Adventist's)  have shown health benefits for increasing life span and lowering the incidences of chronic disease.  As a general class, they live 7 years longer than the general population.   There have been very few extensive studies on totally plant based eaters to show the same long term health benefits, since it has been difficult to find large populations of plant based eaters to study.  The best data comes from foreign treatment centers that use a 100% plant diet in treatment for chronic diseases. Unfortunately, the centers cannot operate in the United States because they are considered quackery and as such studies from these centers are not published in American journals. 

The amount of cooked food can be very high in a vegetarian diet, as well as prepared food.  After all, potato chips would be classified as vegetarian product.

Consumption of Diary products (milk, cheese, yogurt, etc) is allowed under the definition of vegetarian and is believed to be just as harmful as consumption of meats. Animal studies showed that a total calorie from protein intake  from diary greater than 20% of diet supported cancer growths.  A level below 5% did not.  Consumption of the same protein level using plant protein did not support the cancers in animals. A vegetarian diet has it's benefits, but it does not come close to the benefits of a total plant based diet.
